Today is National Armed Forces Day!
Today is National Armed Forces Day! While many celebratory events have been cancelled, we want to take the opportunity to thank not only our service personnel but our whole military community in particular the family and friends who without their incredible support the Armed Forces could not do their jobs. There are many inspirational spouses and partners who are running businesses whilst juggling the demands of service family life and the added pressures or the current Covid-19 crisis in which the Armed forces have contributed significantly to its response. Today we want to shine a spotlight on the heroes behind the scenes.
Armed forces Family Story:
Christine Dedman - Armed Forces Marketing and Communications Consultant, Founder of Frontline Marketing and Communications
Christine joined the Supporting the Unsung Hero business training programme on its first cohort in 2013. With an impressive cross-sector background in Marketing and Communications roles covering global brands, defence, charity and public sector she took the decision to start her freelance business and build a sustainable career which could move with her service family life .
Christine’s husband is a serving member of the Army Medical Services and Airborne Forces which means his skill set is always in high demand and has seen him deployed at short notice for long periods.
“It is a challenge to build a career alongside the demands of Army life which has seen my family move every two to four years since we married in 2002. I am however incredibly proud of the business I have grown over the past six years with the support received from the SUH team and Black Country Chamber of Commerce. I now have a thriving freelance consultancy which has enabled me to work with incredible veteran owned organisations, military charities and commercial organisations who value my experience and training and trust me to deliver on projects around my service family commitments.”
